Waterworld aka Wisconsin

Well Wisconsin has turned into a waterworld this week. Since last week Thursday we have had record setting amounts of rain / thunderstorms / tornadoes. I’ve never seen anything like it. Last Saturday my parking lot flooded, with the water eventually filling my garage about 4 inches deep. After watching the news this week, I know I’m lucky it was only four inches deep – some people have lost everything. Last Saturday, prior to the rain, I worked on my container gardening. Brought the containers into the garage in the evening as hail was predicted and didn’t want my new plants to be traumatized. My zucchini ended up floating in my garage! Was able to retrieve it under the car Sunday morning when the flood water receded.

Tornado sirens sounded several times. Thursday one of my former constituents called me at work – she didn’t know what the siren sound was. I explained it to her and directed her to go in the basement. However, she was caring for a wheelchair bound person – couldn’t get to the basement – and they were near the funnel cloud. She followed my directions to go to the interior bathroom with a blanket, phone, and radio. Then at my work place we were required to take cover – very exciting!

Even the interstate linking Milwaukee & Madison (Mad-town) has 40 miles that are closed due to flooding.

Woke up this morning to a beautiful clear blue sky – what a nice change!
